What is CPO Training?
The Certified Pool Operator (CPO®) Certification Program is a comprehensive training designed to equip individuals with the essential knowledge and skills for effective pool and spa operations. This program includes 14 to 16 hours of instruction covering topics like pool and spa chemistry, testing, treatment, filtration, maintenance, automatic feeding equipment, and government requirements.
Upon successful completion, participants earn a CPO® certification valid for five years, which is recognized nationally by the Pool and Hot Tub Association (PHTA). Classes are currently conducted in person or online via Zoom, with regular scheduling and options for group sessions with 12 or more participants.

In-person classes are hosted around once a month during the slower part of the year, more often during the spring and summer. We have all current dates listed at this website, which is used for registration: https://forms.gle/KhLkoTwjHxb24pMn9.
It is $357 for the base class. A mandatory manual is provided, with an optional math book available for $35+ tax. Virtual students will need to pay for shipping or pick their materials up from the office directly. Payment must be received before materials are sent or handed out to students. Please keep in mind that virtual students will also have to account for shipping and handling time for materials.
We recommend that you take our CPO® course in-person, although we do offer some Zoom courses. Our in-person courses have a higher passing rate than our online courses, and students seem to retain the knowledge better during in-person courses. Certificates earned through the virtual course will be valid in Georgia but will not be valid in some locations, so please check your local jurisdiction for approval regarding the virtual delivery option or reach out to poolschool@original7.com to request an updated list of areas that are not approved for virtual delivery. For all these reasons, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING THE IN-PERSON COURSE.
We do offer a Spanish manual, Spanish math workbook, and some handouts and slides in Spanish, but the class is taught and the slides are presented in English.
Students will not need to read before the class to prep. For in person classes students will need a pencil, highlighter, calculator, and picture ID. In person students will receive their materials on the first day of class. For online classes, students will need their materials shipped before class, a pencil or pen, highlighter, calculator, picture ID, and a computer with internet, Zoom, a video camera, a microphone, and enough storage to download a testing application. For online classes, students must read and familiarize themselves with the "How to Connect" handout which will be available for download during registration.
